Twitter’s logo especially the birds are all set to retire soon from its microblogging platform
as owner Elon Musk recently shared his plan to rebrand Twitter. This evolution will replace
the current logo, which emerged in 2012 after the initial design of the Larry Bird logo with
ˈtwitterˈ text in 2010.
This rebranding can be considered as a notable change by Musk besides the new premium
subscription and the retirement of the blue ticks legacy. A user should keep in mind that
Twitter is no longer an independent company and was merged with X Corp recently.
With the news of changing the current logo Elon Musk tweeted: ̎And soon we shall bid
adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds ̎. In a post on the site in the early
hours of Sunday, the social media platform’s billionaire owner added: ̎If a good enough X
logo is posted tonight, we’ll make (it) go live worldwide tomorrow. ̎
About an hour later, Musk posted a short clip which may be the new logo of the social
media company. In the clip, the iconic blue bird rapidly fades away transforming into a
bright, glowing ˈXˈ.
In April, Musk had appointed Linda Yaccarino as the new Chief Executive Officer. ̎Looking
forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app, ̎ he had
tweeted while welcoming her.
The move comes a few days later after Mark Zuckerberg-owned Meta platforms launched
Threads – an Instagram like rival to Twitter. Threads saw a tremendous response with over
100 million downloads in a week.
