A study done by researchers from Oxford University, Imperial College London, and the Victoria University of Wellington brought to world’s attention the phenomenon of extreme weather like, heatwaves, tropical cyclones, etc. and how it is because of the human-induced climate change. The study highlighted that heatwaves, droughts and heavy rainfall have unprecedentedly increased in the recent years; but impacts of it is being underestimated by insurance companies and governments. The impact of climate change is more severe on lower and middle income countries; but no sufficient data is available or made available to the study team. ∎
